Is President Obama too good for America? :opinion

I’m 10,000% behind OUR President … after a long time on this planet and as an American I have never been more inspired and more confident in the President of the United States than I am today.

I know many disagree  … and I often wonder why …. I am not a fanatic and have seen at least 5 Presidents over my lifetime … I have seen the evolution of this nations society … and it is not a pretty picture.

What has OUR President done wrong?President Obama

Has he done anything wrong? NO.

Is the economy his fault? NO. Were the wars his fault? NO. Could he avoid the obstruction of the GOTP in the Senate and House of Representatives? NO. Did Americans let him down in November 2010? YES.

Do Americans disagree with his positions on the environment, education, energy independence, corporate regulations, the economy, immigration, and taxation? Absolutely not.

His first major victory was health care reform providing for coverage for 10% of Americans (30 million) who had none and laying the groundwork to bring future cost increases under control for everyone  - and HCR will also pave the way for single payer aka universal health care. He was recognized early as a peace maker and his detractors are now seeing why …..

He’s taken out our enemies and been the catalyst for worldwide change starting Egypt  … when he made his speech in Cairo early on …

His strategic decisions on foreign affairs and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have given us clarity of purpose while achieving concrete results.

I’ve been told by someone far more intelligent than I that the one thing he did wrong is he promised way too much … in fact much more than any President this nation has ever had … what is truly amazing is that three years into his first term in-spite of the unprecedented obstruction of the GOTP he has accomplished more items on his todo list then any number of Presidents combined! Ever!

Yet all we read and hear and see is about his opponents and what he hasn’t done that was on his list.

His winning the Nobel peace prize was ridiculed … the health care reform act has been bad mouthed from day one …. other legislation like DADT is under attack  …. and his quest for a grand plan to balance our budget over time while winning the future has been ridiculed  …

How does he not get a 90% approval rating …. when the responsibility for what he hasn’t been able to accomplish yet lies squarely on those who vote for the GOTP and even more on those who don’t vote at all.

Why is the media pandering to OUR Presidents GOTP detractors and ignoring what all Americans need and want?

WHY?

We all know why … the corporate owned and sponsored and managed media has become our BIG BROTHER.

Reyes and Wright : fixtures in New York sports at a young age.

I’ve been a devoted almost fanatical mets fan since 1962 – and there’s been a lot of personal pain and suffering over that time approaching the fiftieth anniversary of the franchise.

All of the problems with being a Mets fan have to do with the owners, not the players.

Owners decide what to spend and who should manage the team based on what they want to spend.

One name that comes to mind is Tom Seaver who should not have been traded by the mets. That was a devastating and cruel blow to mets fans.

Most moves however are subtle and behind the scenes – nothing obvious to the fan – but all having to do with money. Tom Seaver is a good example of what it would be like to lose either Reyes or  Wright.

The pain and suffering if either one are traded or not resigned would go on for another decade and beyond.

The infamy attached to such an event would embed Wilpon and Alderson in the annals of NY Sports villains for eternity.

Many are trained by the media to say that nowadays after all is said and done professional sports is a business.

This is not true in my opinion.

José Reyes

In assigning value to assets in a business there is a category of assets that are intangible – primary among them is good will.

Fans invest in good will and not owners. Good will represents the type of emotional attachment I and many others like me have to the mets which supersedes my feelings about any particular player, manager or owner.

I can’t recall any tandem of players as dynamically appropriate for a sports franchise as Jose reyes and David Wright are for the ny mets.

They belong together on the mets for the lifetime of their playing careers.

Now however due to circumstances having nothing to do with good will or talent or even winning – they have become financial chips to solve balance sheet and potential P&L problems having nothing to do with baseball and sports.

After almost 50 years of being a fan I am drawing the line on Wright and Reyes – do not denigrate them and do not lose them.

That is my message to the mets.

If you trade them or do not resign them I will no longer be a mets fan. Period.

I have watched or listened too practically every game the mets have ever played.

I count for something and I am not alone. These two young men are the best thing that ever happened to the mets.

There are 25 other players that ownership and management needs to concentrate upon to create a winning team formula.
