Sports, cable & satellite
Sports has been sliced diced and chopped up in a zillion ways, shapes forms and colors with perhaps the NBA being the leader .... TV does the same .... if it's not the advertising that permeates our brains ... it's the embedded control that cable TV and satellite TV have over our pocket books .... each sport is creating it's own network .... the internet is fast becoming the most inexpensive vehicle to hear and see ALL NBA & MLB games ..... but how long will that last??? until they figure it's time to pull the plug on all of us and increase rates.
It's no longer about making profits ... it's about making excessive profits ..... ask the oil companies.
I suppose if your benefiting in some way from this bulk extortion of the masses you don't mind even if you are only middle income.
Entertainment is important to people who live in a difficult society ... ask the romans.
